A Mid-Century Modern Makeover in Palo Alto

Previously, guests needed to walk up the driveway and under the eaves along a narrow walk skirting the garage in order to reach the front door. The property is located at the end of the street, so the entire front of the house was on display, and car lights at night penetrated all the way into the house. We added the stucco privacy wall and changed the angle of entry away from the drive. Now guests enter through a metal entry door at the center of the lot, then pass into a new limestone paved patio. Square openings were placed in the wall to allow for light and air passage, and to present a friendly face to the neighborhood. We have now been called back to work on the rear of the property....
