Built in the early 1930’s, this property epitomizes the style of those families in the urban Bay Area who have kept “country places” for generations.
Traditionally the mood is informal and unpretentious, the style eclectic but “western.” The result is relaxed weekends with family and friends, enormous bouquets from the cutting garden, fresh fruit from the trees, and a sense of rootedness...joie de vivre California style.
Chris has run this property for the owners since 1975, remaking and photographing the grounds in the process.
The house itself is an early example of the emerging California Ranch House style, incorporating the work of such architects as Cliff May and Gardener Dailey. |
