This
is the second version of this Noe Valley garden designed by Chris Jacobson.
The new owners were classical musicians and requested a spa for therapeutic
after-concert soaks.
The lower level of the garden was left “as was,” with a small deck and
built-in seating near the kitchen, and pots of herbs on stone plinths
along the elevated walkway.
Plantings include an upright rosemary hedge, a carefully pruned dwarf
apple tree and cutting roses behind a ball-pruned boxwood hedge.
The upper sun terrace became the site of the spa, and the Victorian style
screen and gate were adapted from an existing historic building in the
neighborhood.
